Erin’s Intern Experience at Continuum

I’ve just wrapped up my two-week internship at Continuum, and I had an awesome time! Even though it was short, I got a good sense of what the culture is like here and I absolutely loved it.

In my first week, I managed to get both the Alteryx Foundation and Core Certification. I had never used Alteryx before coming here, so huge thanks to the team for helping me learn the ropes. I also attempted lots of the Alteryx weekly challenges. These were super fun, my favourite challenges being about the Oscars and Eurovision! It was fulfilling to put what I learned into practice with real-life data.

I also got some training on Savant and got to compare it with Alteryx from a beginner’s perspective, which was interesting to see how tools can differ and have various strengths and weaknesses. Another thing I worked on was adding content to the website, specifically writing up success stories about past projects. This was fascinating because it showed me just how many ways Alteryx can be used to help clients solve a wide variety of problems.

One of the best parts of the internship was teaming up with the other interns on a project for a client that involved Sentiment Analysis. It was fascinating to see how Jacob used Alteryx and ChatGPT to scrape Google reviews from the internet and quickly summarise why people rated a place the way they did. Learning to use ChatGPT as a tool, such as to suggest formulas to use in Alteryx, is definitely something I will take with me.

I finished my time with an after-work catchup at the Bohemia, which was such a fun way to end the internship with the lovely team here at Continuum.
