Mission Statement
Our client, a global pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturer, sought to develop a system that would streamline their order processing and inventory management.

Impact
Error reduction: the solution significantly reduces the chances of human error.
Efficiency boast: the solution is now automated, freeing up time for other tasks which in turn will save our client money.
Detailed Solution
The client had one workbook containing all the customer orders, another workbook detailing the stock available in the warehouse, and a lookup table specifying the components needed to build each product.
We developed a system to prioritise incoming client orders and link them to the corresponding components using the lookup table. A batch macro was then created in Alteryx to match the required components for each order with the available warehouse stock. This macro processed each order by subtracting the needed components from the availability in the stock, looping through orders until the warehouse could no longer fulfil them.
The system produced two outputs: a report directing the warehouse on which orders to fulfil, and a report comparing the remaining warehouse stock against the components required for unfulfilled orders, generating a list of stock needing to be ordered from suppliers.
To carry this process out, we led workshops collaborating directly with the client’s analysts. Together, we built the workflow, collaborating in a workshop setting. The solution has proved to be a success and is still in production several years later.
