Nikita’s Second Intern Experience at Continuum

This summer marked my second year as an intern at Continuum, where I had the chance to dive even deeper into the world of automation and data analytics. 

My favourite project has been working on tourism data from Visit Jersey. We conducted sentiment analysis on Google Reviews for Jersey hotels and attractions using a GPT Python Connector in Alteryx. This became a powerful tool, allowing us to compare thousands of reviews from destinations such as Cornwall, Geneva and Madeira in a matter of seconds. We summarised these reviews into categories such as customer service, facilities and food quality, allowing us to gain a broader picture of why tourists choose to visit Jersey over other destinations.  

We also automated Visit Jersey’s reporting of visitor arrivals, turning a hugely manual and error-prone job into a click of a button. This further allowed us to provide predictive analysis on expected arrivals for future months. This was a fascinating insight into the power of automation. I thoroughly enjoyed combining my mathematical background and Alteryx skills to tackle the questions posed by Visit Jersey. 

I also earned my Savant Core Certification this summer, quickly getting to grips with the intuitive platform. Continuum also gave me the chance to work closely with the Savant Labs team. Together, we explored various workflow demos, providing feedback on specific tools and refining them for better performance. I found Savant’s capabilities with Generative AI to be very exciting- we were inspired to form a Continuum team for their Gen AI Competition. We focused on analysing Continuum’s X Feed using an API Connector, a challenging but fun experience! 

My time at Continuum has been nothing short of amazing. From working on local data projects to gaining certifications and exploring the potential of Generative AI, I have developed invaluable skills and knowledge. 

I am incredibly grateful to the team at Continuum for providing such a supportive environment to grow and learn. My internship ended on a high note with a delightful team meal at Pizza Express- the perfect way to celebrate.
